Book Trust - Inspire the love of reading

Donate to Book Trust

Every child deserves the joy of discovering their first favorite book — the one that makes them laugh, dream, and believe in magic. But for many families across the UK, books are a luxury they simply can’t afford. That’s where BookTrust comes in — and where we can all help.

BookTrust is more than just a charity — it’s a lifeline for children who might otherwise miss out on the chance to fall in love with reading. Through free book packs, reading resources, and support for families, BookTrust gives every child the opportunity to start life with stories.

In this post, I’ll show you how supporting BookTrust — whether through donations, spreading the word, or simply sharing your love of reading — can make a real difference in a child’s life.

What is neurodiversity? Neurodiversity describes the way every brain works differently. Neurodiversity can include autistic spectrum conditions, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, traumatic brain injuries and many more.

Representation through reading. We know that representation is vital in helping motivate children to read. Diversity and representation in stories, characters and illustrations in children’s literature affect how young readers see themselves and the world around them.
Diverse, inclusive and representative children’s literature can ensure that children benefit from a richness of perspective, nuance in narrative and good stories from the earliest age.

Disability and Books

We know that representation is vital in helping motivate children to read. Diversity and representation in stories, characters and illustrations in children’s literature affect how young readers see themselves and the world around them.

Diverse, inclusive and representative children’s literature can ensure that children benefit from a richness of perspective, nuance in narrative and good stories from the earliest age.

From babies to children in their early years and all the way through to early teens, reading brings profound and wide-ranging benefits that can have a lifelong positive impact on children’s lives.

BookTrust is the UK’s largest children’s reading charity. We know that children who read are happier, healthier, more empathetic, and more creative. They also do better at school.

Working with every local authority and across every region in the country, and supported by Arts Council funding, we reach over 3 million families a year via partners in schools, children’s centers, health visitors and libraries. This incredible network helps us to get children reading across the country.

Memorial Day For Comfort Woman in South Korea 14th March

Memorial Day in South Korea for Comfort Woman

The international memorial day was held for Asian women forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese military during World War II.
The National ceremony marking the International Memorial Day for Comfort Women took place at the Hill of National Commemoration in Cheonan, south of Seoul, with the slogan of "memory for the future."
About 100 people, including elderly Korean women sexually enslaved by the imperial Japanese army, participated.
South Koreans have called on Japan to offer a sincere apology and compensation for the victims, but the neighbouring country has remained silent.
It is the third time that the government has hosted a national ceremony commemorating the day since 2018, when it was designated a national memorial day.

The International Memorial Day for Comfort Women falls on Aug. 14th, the day when the late Kim Hak-soon, a former comfort woman, first publicly testified about Japan operating an organized military brothel program during the war in 1991.

"The testimony by Kim Hak-soon resonated across the globe, revealing the truth and the violence against women," she said. "Now we have to think of what we can learn from the tragedy in history."
The government then opened a digital archive that stored more than 500 files of documents and materials on "comfort women," a euphemistic term for the former sex slaves.
The online depository (www.archive814.co.kr) includes reports by the United Nations forces during the Korean War and official statements by the Japanese government.

Up to 200,000 women, mostly Koreans, were coerced into sexual servitude in front-line Japanese brothels when the Korean Peninsula was a Japanese colony.

BOOK: City of bones by Cassandra Clare

Omg... I love this book I really did, now I have always made a point of staying away from shitty teenager romances after the disastrous Twilight but I watched the film with my friends and really enjoyed that also
So what came next had to be the books I have spent the past tow night staying up till early hours of the morning reading they caught me that bad.

The book is very different from the film which is always a bad thing in the book she has the characters and whiney teenagers which I found a bit shitty but it was still a good read.

Since i got this little man we have just grown stronger and stronger together i think it's about time i told you all our story.
Back in the days i had lost my job, i got very depressed and was spiraling down a dark hole i didn't want to eat of even get out of bed i got so ill, my husband at the time took me out for the day to the Cheshire dogs home link here i wasn't really interested in getting a dog i could barely look after myself but walking round i see a dog cowering in the corner he was a cavalier king Charles he looked petrified and scared out of his whits i bent down to the cage then all of a sudden this hug dog came at me and started barking like crazy.
We asked the woman if we could have a look at the king Charles she brought him out and he sat with me on the floor just leaning against me i new right then i was not leaving without him and he new it to, i think.
Getting him was a pain in the arse it was my husbands pay day so we new we had some money but none of the bank cards where working so we had to go back into town withdraw the money out then back to the dog's home where hopefully he still was.
We paid £100 for him because he is a full pedigree dog but the dogs home burned his papers. I spoiled him rotten got a him a giant bowls and toys and chew sticks he lives like a king.
Over time we noticed he wasn't so good with other dogs and when it came to humans he was literally a ankle biter, he had good manners.
You see he saved me and i saved him, he gets me up and out, he has me running across fields with him no matter what the weather, we run across beaches, i get wet sloppy kisses in the morning, he has leaned where the biscuit tin is. Recently we got him neutered and he has put on so much weight we are going to be doing more running i think, he farts and snores like a trooper he eats everything in sight and gets under you feet but i wouldn't have him and other way. This year i am working on getting a passport for him so i can take him travelling with me last time i went it was murder for me not having him around.
Here's a few cheeky moments since i got him. I have had him for 3 year i think now.

You Did It

Firstly i want to say congratulation to my friend Georgina Bos for completing her cycling vacation from Netherlands to Paris.

This is what she said when she finished

6 days, 45.5 hours including breaks, 500 km of cycling and I am here. I feel completely empty. During cycling I did not think of anything and that for 6 days, only cycling and getting to my destination. After Saint-Quentin I couldn't cycle so much any more, had to take more breaks, although the road was mainly going down.

Yesterday when I saw the sign of Paris 44 km, it made me so happy. And if I wanted to have more adrenaline in my body I for sure succeed. Before entering
Paris, it was like cycling on the highway with my bicycle of course still hilly. Sometimes I went downhill with for sure 40 km, hoping my bike of 20 euros would hold...because if I would have an accident, I for sure would me dead.

I do understand why people do this kind of vacation by themselves. For me it was a very interesting holiday, just me on the bicycle to Paris, meeting people on the way via Couchsurfing. I slept in people their housing and it was really a great experience. In Compiegne my host took me to a Couchsurfing meeting, really nice. After that we went into the forest to look at the stars and listen to the sound of the deers in the mating season. Thank you Claire Ette and CS Compiegne, was really cool.

Thanks for all the cool reactions!

You are a true hero sister love you
